Summer is here!

Well, first of all, I want all of you to know that I made a phone call, and the wind will stop blowing for the rest of this year. Yes, I should have made the call in early March, but it's taken care of.

Speaking of wind, the OFCU Memorial Day Madness Scholarship Golf Tournament was held on Monday, May 26th at the Desert Lakes Golf Course in Alamogordo. The wind did blow, but we survived and raised almost $6,000 for college scholarships for local students. There is another charity fundraiser that OFCU is involved in and that is the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event for Otero County. That is Saturday, June 7th at Griggs Field. Also, in Ruidoso, OFCU is co-sponsoring a disc golf tournament at the Grindstone Park Disc Golf Course to help raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Lincoln County. This will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 10:00. If interested call 258-4185. While I am on the topic of community events, I want to invite everyone in the Roswell area to come to our N. Main branch in Roswell and have their children fingerprinted as part of our Child Safety Awareness campaign. McGruff Safe Kids ID Kits will be available as part of a collaboration with the Roswell Police Department. This event is scheduled for Friday, June 20th and Saturday morning, June 21st.
