Back to School!

The day all kids dread, after a long, relaxing summer. The day mothers cherish.

It's funny how when you were young, it was so tough to imagine a whole new school year staring you in the face. It was depressing. 9 months. Arrggghhh. Now that I've been in the working world for over 20 years, I realize what a breeze it was. A built in 2 1/2 month vacation, not to mention the Holiday breaks, spring break, teacher conference days, snow days, you name it. It really was the good old days!

Now, as a parent, you have to buy all the school clothes, supplies, sneakers, glasses, lunch box, backpack. It can get really expensive. I think on the previous year's last day of school, kids throw away everything. You must buy all new stuff, there's never any of the old stuff around to re-use. Children of course think it's their right to have all new stuff. The money tree in the backyard will suffice. I can see them wondering: why is Dad so upset with buying $300 worth of school supplies. That is of course after buying another $500 worth of clothes and other necessities.

Times like these are when you need a good back to school loan at OFCU. If things are a little tight right now, stop by one of our convenient branches and speak with a loan officer. Chances are we can help you with an affordable monthly payment and take some of the stress out of your back to school season. Also, check into our new Visa Platinum Card. It's an old school credit card. You know, the one with no annual fee, 25 day grace period on purchases, no balance transfer fee, no cash advance fee at OFCU ATM's and branches, with or without rewards. It really is a great credit card to have in this time when it seems no one wants to be in the credit card business anymore. As always, on approved credit only, other restrictions apply.

I wish everyone the best in their new school year.

Greg
