Happy New Year!

Okay, I know I'm a little late but I figured better late than never.

As we kick off the New Year, there's a lot of talk in Washington about kick-starting the economy. Although there's been a slowdown in southern New Mexico, it isn't anywhere near what some of the other places in the country have felt. All the talk about a "credit crunch" really don't apply here at OFCU. Our lending practices haven't changed, and we're looking to make loans. Last year we ran a loan promo of 1%cash back on any non-OFCU loan, up to $200. With interest rates down from past levels, not only could you get up to $200 on the spot, you probably saved money on your monthly payment because the interest rate was lowered. OFCU did almost $5 million in loans with this promotion. The success was so profound, that the decision was made to continue this loan promo through the end of 2009.

What we want our members, and potential new members to know is that here at OFCU, we want your business, and we want to make loans in our communities. If you have questions, please call one of our 6 conveniently located offices and speak with a loan officer. You can also apply for a loan online at www.oterofcu.org.

You can also email me your pick for the Super Bowl: I'm taking the Baltimore Ravens to win it all. If you disagree, let me know. Now that I've put my pick out there, it will be hard to hide if I'm wrong.

Good luck with 2009,

Greg
